Bristol Sober Spaces Hip Hop Night with MoYah, CW Jones, AudioFlux, Miss Twist and Miss Blackmore, Blakemore and Steven Stone.

Join us for our second sober hip hop night with some of the best hip hop/trip hop music to come out of Bristol. Hosted by born and bred Bristolian musician and co founder of “properjob presents”, Blakemore. Expect some classic hip hop instrumentals with socially conscious lyrics, stunning melodies & harmonies as well as plenty of original material that will showcase the levels that our musicians operate at. Internationally touring MoYah will be bringing an Afro beat style sound fresh from his home country of Mozambique, addressing issues relating to identity, social injustices & spirituality from the perspective of a child of the African Diaspora. CW Jones became a well know figure in Bristol in 2014 and will be performing hip hop with some modern garage vibes whilst bringing a very quirky style to the table. Audioflux led by producer “101” will bring the most unique, dark and industrial sound in the city by a country mile. Miss Twist and Miss Blackman perform some of the grimiest filth that you are likely to hear in Bristol and really epitomize what rap music is all about - expression and realness. The night will be capped with a DJ set from Bristol’s and properjob presents resident DJ Steven Stone. Guaranteed to be 3 hours of absolute genius.

What are the events?

Our mission is simple - to host regular, high quality and affordable live events that are drug and alcohol free. BSS is a collaboration between BDP, Not Saints, and the broader Bristol recovery and sober communities. We are supported by the National Lottery, Not Saints, BDP and Bristol City Council.

Who can attend?

Our events are for anyone who wants go to a sober event, for whatever reason. Whether you've chosen a sober life, are in recovery, don’t drink for cultural, religious or health reasons, or if you're just not fussed if there’s alcohol on sale, then Sober Spaces is here for you.

Why Sober Spaces?

We are part of a growing world wide movement towards normalising drug and alcohol free events. Since 2020, there has been a huge rise in the low to no alcohol drinks market, coinciding with more awareness of the need for safe and inclusive spaces, and the rise of the sober curious movement.

Our events are great nights out in themselves, with the added benefits of not having a hangover, saving money, engaging with music and performance with a straight head, and feeling connected to a supportive community.

How can I get involved?

If you're interested in getting involved with our community, you can attend our events, sign up for our newsletter, perform at an event, or get involved behind the scenes.

It was such a privilege to perform with sober spaces and be a part of a process in which people are sharing their unique musical gufts in a space that is a supportive and caring of everyone's journey in life.

Alice

It was an honour playing Bristol's first sober metal night! The atmosphere was so welcoming and friendly, I felt safe the whole night and everyone was buzzing from the music, if you didn’t know it was an alcohol free zone, you would not have known - the crowd were amazing, if not more excitable!

Arimea Band

It was brilliant to work in an atmosphere with such a vibe that was created by the passion of the Sober Spaces team for music and events. There's always a lot to do from a technical point of view, and working with Bristol Sober Spaces was a breeze from start to finish. Engineering the sound for the artists they had chosen was also a delight, and really highlighted the creativity from each of them.

James

Great! Really diverse audience, great venue (felt very “normal”), music was fantastic. Really enjoyed it being a big band with dancing vibes rather than just acoustic music (which is also great but felt like a real treat to have a big band).

Lydia

It was such an honour to be part of the Sober Spaces event. It felt like a really valuable gathering for people supporting eachother in a new wat of life. I feel passionately about being part of the sober community and the night we put on was full, and buzzing with positive energy. Keep these gatherings going!

Emmy

We need so much more of this in Bristol. Live music and dancing is what every sober person I meet worries about - it’s fantastic to have a safe space to get involved.
